The Canyon is not only a popular tourist destination because of its red beak and potential activity, but also by the long history. Indians called this way back from the rock in the 900 and perhaps even earlier. You can still find bits of pottery, fireplaces and petroglyphs from around the canyon.
Before the resort casinos are the oasis in the desert, Red Rock Canyon offers a natural habitat of Indian life. Plants, animals and water sources can be found in the canyons, and it helped people to develop for millennia.
Due to the massive spread of European settlers throughout the country, the natives have almost disappeared in mid-1900. In 1967, the Bureau of Land Management stepped in and set aside 10,000 hectares, and in 1990, Red Rock Canyon became a national conservation area.
